I chose the book “Flying Solo” because on the back blurb it says that a 6th grade class’s teacher is absent, but the substitute didn’t come either. The class challenges themselves to get through the day with no teacher. Also there are many perspectives in the class and some are the leaders of the class, the trouble makers, the “new kid”, or regular problem/solution students. One kid in the class before this no-teacher day, named Tommy Feathers and he had a crush on a girl named Rachel White but she kept rejecting him. One day she received a call from her best friend that Tommy Feathers was dead from his sleep, then from that day on Rachel couldn’t speak at all. A troublemaker named Bastian was leaving to Hawaii so the no-teacher day was his last day but his dog/puppy Barley had to go through Quarantine for 4 months, so he was depressed. through the book the class had survived through their other classes and requests form other teachers, but Sky the “new kid” got a bloody scalp and Missy bandaged Sky knee then they soon had to go to the auditorium for a presentation by a famous storyteller and the news van came as well. But, the storyteller requested for the 4 teachers and apparently they picked the 6tht grade teachers but soon Karen the leader of the class, had to spoil that they had no teacher the whole day. soon everything went ballistic and crazy with the news crew, the students all cheering and the teachers trying to get everything back under control, unfortunately the students in Mr. Fabiano’s class were punished by parents and Bastian gave the chose of giving up Barley to Sean who wanted a dog and it was all emotional. When Mr. Fabiano gave attendance Rachel White finally spoke! <o/
